The incident happened in Yonkers on Monday afternoon, June 5, when a 16-year-old female student at Gorton High School allegedly struck a 50-year-old female teacher, according to Yonkers Police Lieutenant Dean Politopoulos.
The student, whose name was not released as a result of her age, was then arrested on Tuesday, June 6 following an investigation and charged with second-degree assault, a Class D felony.
She was later arraigned in the Youth Part of Superior Court. The student has also been suspended from school as a result of the assault, Politopoulos said.
